Fatal Teenage Car Accidents are a Growing Concern in North Dakota

Fatal teenage car accidents are a now growing concern in North Dakota. With their parents’ permission, teenagers can begin driver training and be granted a restricted license at a younger age than teenagers in some other states. These restricted licenses simply restrict nighttime driving in an effort to reduce distractions and, in turn, fatal car accidents. Unfortunately, even with restrictions and driver training, accidents happen and their results can be devastating to the young drivers, their passengers and their families.

Sadly, a rollover accident near Robinson claimed the life of a teenager and left two others injured. According to a video recording released with a recent news report, the teens were headed home from a local lake when the accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. The driver of the truck, a 15 year old, supposedly lost control of his vehicle on a gravel road, causing the truck to roll. The driver and a 13 year old passenger were injured in the crash. A second passenger, another 15 year old male, was killed.

The current conditions of the survivors of this accident have not been released. Local law enforcement have not indicated if any charges will be filed against anyone involved in this tragic incident. The overall cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Fatal car accidents involving teenagers are, without a doubt, cause for concern for North Dakota parents and police. Along with the emotional consequences that follow accidents like this one, they can also be financially devastating to the victim’s families as well. Even though this particular accident only involved one vehicle, liability may be established against the driver and the owner of the vehicle. The families of the victims may be entitled to pursue civil claims for personal injury or wrongful death, as applicable. If these claims are successfully litigated, financial relief may be granted to help recoup any monetary losses these families have encountered due to this incident.
