Bakken Oil Fields May Increase Big Rig Truck Accidents
There is no doubting that the drilling industry helped North Dakota survive the worst of the most recent recession. So far, the Department of Mineral Resources is predicting that over the course of the next three years, an estimated 6,000 wells will be dug, which will add thousands of jobs across the state. From drill operators to truck drivers, an increase in need will bring an influx of labor.
This increase in productivity means that there will be an increased need to transport the products to refineries across the state, meaning a lot more big rig trucks on the roads and highways. Though this means more jobs for North Dakota residents, it also means an increased risk in the number of truck accidents as well.
Everyone working or travelling in western North Dakota needs to be smart and pay attention, says one news source in Bismarck. As many of our readers may already know, motor vehicle accidents involving large semi trucks and the big rigs used to transport materials from oil wells can be incredibly dangerous for all those involved. Because of their size, they may not see other vehicles when they change lanes. Their weight also plays a huge factor in accidents, which can cause considerable damage and serious injuries as well.
As we creep ever closer into the summer season, traffic safety experts across the state urge drivers to increase their vigilance on the roadways. While you may not be able to stop all accidents from happening, by increasing your awareness of your surroundings you could reduce your risk of being the victim of another person’s negligence.
