Local Tioga Man Dies in Accident Were No Seat Belts Worn
A North Dakota car accident involving two vehicles recently occurred near Tioga. The collision took place during the evening of Monday October 28. There was one fatality as a result of the crash, while another victim was left injured. This tragedy is yet another of the fatal car accidents that plague American roadways.
At around 7 p.m. that night, the two vehicles crashed head on. It was reported that the accident was the result of a car crossing over into oncoming traffic and striking a pickup truck. Both drivers were believed to not be wearing their seat belts.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 48 year old Tioga man, died at the crash scene. The other driver involved in the incident, a 21 year old Montana man, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for the injuries he sustained. North Dakota authorities are likely investigating the fatal accident, though there was no immediate indication as to when a formal report might be expected.
In North Dakota, the surviving families of those who fall victim to fatal car accidents have the right to seek financial relief from another party who is deemed to have negligently caused the accident and death that resulted. Any monetary damages awarded aim to cover the cost of any expenses sustained as a result of the tragedy. If the driver of the car is found liable in civil court for the death of the operator of the pickup truck, the family of the deceased would be entitled to financial reimbursement for these expenses and other damages recognized under our wrongful death laws. Any damage claims for car accidents are decided by a North Dakota civil court.
